The Mary Jane Patterson Teachers for Urban Schools Scholarship ("Patterson Scholars Project")The Mary Jane Patterson Scholarship was established as part of the Teachers for Urban Schools Project in 2019 for post-baccalaureate students pursuing multiple, single, and education specialist credentials at Ӱ who are interested in teaching in urban classrooms and working with students who have experienced educational and socio-economic disadvantages, including African American students. Varies

Russell J. and Lila Gallery wish to establish Russell J. and Lila Gallery Education Scholarship to support student teachers in Ӱ’s Credential program.  The scholarship is for students in the credential program who dedicated to the teaching profession, during their student teaching semester.  1 x $4,750
It was with pride and admiration that the Diana Karady Memorial Scholarship in honor of Jacob R. Blake was established by Jacob’s sister, Bari Wood (Ӱ BA ‘02), in his honor, and in their mother’s memory. The Scholarship is intended for individuals who are heads of one-parent households, with a preference for multiple subject credential program (MSCP) students who plan to teach in underserved communities. 1 x $2,137

An endowment is a fund in which the principal amount (minimum $25,000) is invested, but not distributed.  Each year the Ӱ 49er Foundation may distribute an amount up to 4.5% of each endowment fund’s corpus based on a 36-month moving average market value. This creates a permanent fund which will disburse an annual scholarship, forever.  Many of our scholarship endowments have come from the estates of our generous donors. We honor their memories and their generosity with every scholarship awarded. Legacy Endowments are denoted with an asterisk.

History Education Endowed Award

The purpose of this gift is to establish an Endowed Award in the College of Education to provide financial aid support to Single Subject Credential students.

Award will be given to a College of Education student who meets the following criteria:
a. Graduated with an undergraduate degree in history from Ӱ
b. Admitted to the Single Subject Credential Program in History/Social Science or
currently enrolled in EDSS 300 – Introduction to teaching Social Science
c. Preference given to students focused on social justice issues

The purpose of this gift is to establish the Elementary Education Award in Memory of Sara “Sally” M. The purpose of the endowment is to support study abroad scholarships for students matriculated in the College of Education.

 * Ӱ must be in good academic standing and planning to enroll in a course with a study abroad component. 
 * Ӱ must, at the time of application, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
 * All study abroad destinations are eligible except those in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.  
 * International students participating in a Ӱ Study Abroad program that takes place in their home country are not eligible for this award.  
 * The study abroad experience must include an element of cultural exchange characterized by deep learning and understanding of another culture. 
 * After returning from their study abroad experience, students will be encouraged to provide a written reflection of their activities during the experience and how it has impacted their education.
