Become a Representative
Represent your department, unit, or shop at Staff Council meetings as a voting member. Representatives elect new members and staff representation on important campus committees and help make strategic decisions about the future direction of campus initiatives.

Role of Representatives
- Representatives serve as liaisons between Staff Council and all of the unique and diverse units on campus.
- Representatives convey ideas, suggestions, needs, and expectations to Staff Council related to staff concerns.
- Representatives share crucial announcements, events, policy changes, staff development, and committee information that will impact staff and communicate this information back to their units.
Eligible Staff are:
- ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ employees and managers (except those with academic retreat rights).
- Staff of ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ auxiliaries (the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Foundation), and ASi.
- Staff employed at Beach Shops who are working on a half-time basis or more, with an initial appointment of at least six months or more.
Instructions for Nomination
- Complete the Representative Nomination Form [PDF]. You may nominate yourself.
- Obtain your supervisor's signature on the form.
- Email the completed form to staff-council@csulb.edu. We'll contact you with information about the next steps.
- Prepare a short introduction of yourself to present at the next Staff Council Monthly meeting you are planning to attend. Your name will be placed on a ballot and members will be asked to vote to approve.
Requirements
- Representatives are expected to serve a three-year term unless circumstances require resignation.
- Representatives are expected to attend monthly Staff Council meetings. If unable to attend, you may select a temporary alternate who can attend and vote on your behalf.
- Representatives are expected to share Staff Council information, email, events, and opportunities with their departments or units.
