ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ faculty have been awarded a 6-year $4.2M grant from the NSF's Partnership for Research and Education in Materials (PREM) program. The grant opens doors to new opportunities for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ students in research, education, and broadening participation in materials science.

More than 2,700 people visited Cal State Long Beach on July 20 for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics annual open house. The community event showcased the college's research and achievements while engaging children in educational activities.

On March 23, 2024, the 23rd Math Day at the Beach event was hosted on the ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñState University, Long Beach campus. Math Day at the Beach is a problem-solving festival for Southern ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñhigh school students who want to have fun with mathematics and enjoy a day of camaraderie with university mathematics students and professors.

Mathematics and Statistics Department staff win 1st place in the 2023 Group Costume ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Spooktacular event! Their theme was "The Nightmare Before Christmas."

We generally understand molecules and how they interact with each other, but with new materials being developed out of molecules with more complex interactions, there's still a lot left to learn. That's where Professor Alex Klotz in Physics and Professor Ryan Blair in Math come in.

The first annual Data Day at the Beach was held on April 22, 2023, at CSU Long Beach! Participants attended a panel with data science industry professionals and engaged in hands-on data-related activities in the computer lab.

On March 12, 2022, Math Day at the Beach was hosted on the CSU Long Beach campus after a 2-year hiatus. The event is a problem-solving festival for SoCal high school students who want to have fun with math and enjoy a day of camaraderie with university math students and professors.

Dr. Kagba Suaray, a professor in the Mathematics and Statistics Department at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, is at the helm of national movement to get Black kids excited about math.

Dr. Lihan Wang, assistant professor of mathematics at ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ, uses geometric analysis involving differential equations and geometry in her research examining unique shapes and how we interact with the universe around us.
