With the ever-increasing threats of cybercrimes and universities being prime targets of phishing scams, passwords alone are no longer enough. For greater threat protection, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ will be implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), also known as Two-Step verification, on January 27 for students and March 24 for faculty and staff.
How bad is it really?
- 1054 Percent increase in compromised ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ email accounts from 2019 to 2020. Compromises likely due to phishing.
- 39 A cyberattack occurs every 39 seconds according to research by University of Maryland.
- 81 Percent of security breaches are due to weak or stolen passwords according to LastPass.
