CNSM faculty are tackling climate change head on by advancing clean energy and protecting wildlife. Their research informs policy and drives innovation while opening doors for under-resourced student researchers whose communities often are the first and hardest hit by global warming.

In Fall 2024, ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ launched the Beach Pluralism Project in an effort to promote constructive engagement between people, regardless of identity and viewpoint. The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is proud to welcome 6 new faculty members to our college!

Biology Professor Ted Stankowich utilized 3D printing to give his students a hands-on anatomy lesson in assembling a replicated humpback whale skeleton. The 13-foot model is suspended from the ceiling of the Mammal Lab. These types of collaboration foster a sense of community and achievement for CNSM students.

The ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñResources Corporation and CNSM have teamed up to create the Urban Coast Fund and support research into protecting our local coastline.

ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ faculty have been awarded a 6-year $4.2M grant from the NSF's Partnership for Research and Education in Materials (PREM) program. The grant opens doors to new opportunities for ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ students in research, education, and broadening participation in materials science.

More than 2,700 people visited Cal State Long Beach on July 20 for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics annual open house. The community event showcased the college's research and achievements while engaging children in educational activities.

The Physics and Astronomy Department hosted the Great North American Eclipse Viewing on the Long Beach State campus, where people stretched out on the grass, listened to eclipse-appropriate music, and watched the celestial event with special viewing glasses.
