Wilderness Studies Certificate

The Certificate in Wilderness Studies is offered through the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies. This certificate provides students and with a comprehensive foundation of wilderness travel and outdoor technical skill development and practice as they apply in an outdoor context in selected natural environments. The 15 unit Certificate in Wilderness Studies incorporates the knowledge and skills of outdoor leadership, outdoor trip planning, outdoor programming, and related technical skills. The certificate reflects the students’ ability to learn outdoor skills and techniques for working or participating in various outdoor programs and environments.

Note: ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ may only pursue this certificate program in combination with a ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ degree program.

Admissions requirements are as follows:

1. Completion of 30 units of course work;

2. A minimum 2.75 GPA in all completed course work.

1. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ must submit a resume of outdoor field experiences

2. Complete a combination of the following coursework for 15 units
