Student Organizations

The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Gerontology Program is proud to host The Gerontology Club, made up of three distinct "arms:" the Gerontological Society of America Student Chapter, the Delta Eta Chapter of Sigma Phi Omega Gerontology Honor Society and Dreamcatchers.

One of only a few "pilot" chapters, the ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ Gerontological Society of America Student Chapter aims to foster professionalism, service and networking among its members, with the support of the internationally-based GSA.

Sigma Phi Omega is a national honor and professional society for gerontology students. Membership requirements include: A minimum 3.3 GPA for undergraduate students or a minimum 3.5 GPA for graduate students, completion of at least one term in a gerontology program, and a demonstrated "capacity for and commitment to leadership and achievement in gerontology and their related fields of professional study" (www.). ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ with an interest in gerontology from any major are considered for membership.

Dreamcatchers (officially "Hospice Dreamcatcher Foundation, Inc.) partners high school and college chapters with a hospice to fulfill the final wishes of hospice patients. The ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ chapter of Dreamcatchers was started by Masters in Gerontology alum, Amanda Paiz, in 2019. ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ from any discipline are invited to join the club and participate in the granting of "dreams."
