Hal Snyder serves as vice president, human resources, diversity & inclusion, at the Southern ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñGas Company (SoCalGas), where he oversees human resources, labor relations, diversity, organizational effectiveness, and employee health and safety for the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility.
Previously, as vice president of customer solutions, Snyder was responsible for programs ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñenergy efficiency, sustainability, low-income assistance, as well as for the development of new technologies, including clean transportation, distributed energy, in-home services, and biofuels.
Before that, Snyder managed operations serving more than 6.2 million customers and held management positions in business development, operations, marketing, engineering, and project management at SoCalGas. Currently, Snyder serves as a member of the board and of the executive committee of the ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñScience Center, as co-chair of the ÃÛÌÒÓ°ÏñState Science Fair, and as board member/treasurer for the Coalition for Clean Air.
He is also actively involved in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and is a past chair of that organization’s Light the Night Walk–Los Angeles. A member of College of Engineering’s Dean’s Advisory Council, Snyder assists his alma mater and the next generation of engineering professionals by connecting ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ students with internship opportunities at SoCalGas and by helping ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ secure company grants, sponsorships, and speakers.
Snyder played competitive golf through college and still plays recreationally; other interests include hiking, running, cooking, and wine. He has been married since 2002 to Liz, a successful real estate professional with two children, Samantha and Josh; the Snyders also have an Australian Shepherd, Scotia.
